impart of the Canon 500D Close-Up Lens

If you're concerned in Macro photography then the Canon 500D Close-up lens can be a great introduction to this animated area without the charge of a dedicated Macro Lens.

Lens

The lens attaches to your camera by threading onto the filter threads of your acceptable lens. It is intended to be used primarily with a telephoto lens with a focal length of 70mm-300mm. The Canon 500D Close-up Lens works by addition the magnification of the lens effectively getting closer to the subject.

Fitting the close-up lens is very easy and in a matter of seconds you're up and running. The shots taken with the Canon 500D Close-Up Lens ordinarily produce very good results but are not as good as a dedicated macro lens. The add on however is easy to carry and store in your camera bag so if you don't have the room for a dedicated macro lens then it's a great alternative.

The Canon 500D Close-Up Lens uses a dual element which produces much good results than similar single element add ons so I wouldn't propose getting a single element instead of this.

In use the depth of field seemed to be shallow so focusing could be a petite tricky and the final shots seemed to lose a petite focus towards the edges.

There are some things this lens can do that a Macro can't though. For example attaching the lens to a 70mm-300mm telephoto lens allows you to get closer shots when you are still far away from the subject. I'd surely propose using a tripod though as otherwise camara shake can be a problem.

Should you buy one of these?
