The Nikon 18-200 Lens is hands down the best all purpose zoom lens you can perhaps get for your Nikon reflex camera.
[b]Lens[/b]I bought it a year ago and since then I fell in love with it, because you can do (almost) anyone with it. You can shot inside a museum using the wide angle or zoom in to catch the most exiguous detail of a construction facade. It's the best lens for the traveler who walks down the streets of a big city or wanders the paths of a National Park looking for the best shot. Before I bought the Nikon 18-200 Lens I used two separate lenses to cover the same range, the 18-55 and the 55-200. They're both very good lenses but they have one big problem, you have to stop and switch them whenever you want to go from wide to telephoto, and in the process you might lose a good shot. Not to mention the continuous changing lens bring dirt inside your high-priced camera. In my opinion, it has only one exiguous downside: it weights a lot, and carrying your camera colse to your neck all day can be a bit painful if you're not used to. But this way you don't have to carry colse to a bag to hold the other lens, and that's a big plus.
There are some other brands that make 18-200 lenses, but they're not barely as good as this one. As a general rule, Nikon lenses are all the time the best, and unfortunately you pay for their high quality. But good lenses don't lose their value, you can bet that their price will remain high, not like cameras that can get obsolete after a couple of years. So you should consider buying a potential lens as an investment, and if you've got so money to spend, use it for a good lens and not for a new camera.
Of procedure this Nikon 18-200 Lens comes with an image stabilization system, that Nikon calls Vr. This is important when using the telephoto end of the lens, so your pictures won't corollary blurred, as long as you don't too low with the exposure. The Vr is useless when shooting enchanting subjects in the dark.
So if you use your digital reflex for fun, especially when you're on vacation, you need this Nikon 18-200 Lens, because it's fun, sharp and practical. What else would you ask for?
