Are Progressive Lenses For You?

An increasing whole of habitancy who are in need of near vision help are turning to the progressive lenses for their vision needs. The need for near vision revision happens when the muscles and the interior lens of the eye begin to loose their elasticity much like a rubber band does as it ages. Progressives is more commonly known as the no line bifocal however it is more than a bifocal or even a trifocal. In actuality, the progressive is a multifocal with many vision areas. The progressive lens moderately increases or decreases in power, much like the eye used to, as you move your eyes up or down the lens.

The progressive lens is not for everyone, however, whatever can learn to wear it. With permissible study and instruction, adaption to a progressive lens is easy. The line that is ordinarily on a bifocal is not just zapped off the front of the lens. This lens has a form much like an hourglass. The line that was present on a bifocal lens is blended into the outside or peripheral and the inside or the nasal part of the lens. The space that is created by this blend is the channel or corridor and that is where the intermediate or computer distance power is. This is also where the prescribe power moderately changes from distance in the top to the near in the bottom.

A progressive lens is not designed to have clear vision throughout the whole lens. In studying to wear a progressive lens you must remember that like an hourglass the corridor is narrower in the middle than the top and bottom. To use the middle quantum you need to use your nose like a pointer and turn your head slightly to look directly at your object to get the full benefit of the intermediate area. If you notice to either side you will run into the blended area and your vision will blur slightly. To adjust the power between the distance and the near you must move you head moderately up or down which changes the power agreeing to how far away the object or reading material is from you. commonly your near distance is measured at about 16 to 18 inches or elbow distance. The intermediate distance is between you elbow and about 6 inches beyond your finger tips. The far vision is whatever beyond the ends of your finger tips. When wearing a progressive for the first time you must tilt you chin toward your chest and look over the intermediate blend to see the floor since it is beyond your fingertips.

Now that you have the basics of Progressive lenses and how to use them, enjoy the variety of vision and the leisure you have now gained from the older bifocal lenses.

Why Progressive perceive Lenses Eliminate Reading Glasses

Progressive experience lenses help you get rid of reading glasses. Most habitancy past about age 40 have problem focusing at close distances. You can use reading glasses to solve the problem, but experience lenses offer another solution. Contacts may work for you even if you've never worn them before.

Lens

Until recently most bifocal contacts were hard lenses. Whether that or you wore one lens with a close prescribe and one lens with a longer vision prescription. Whether option has serious disadvantages. Hard lenses aren't exactly whatever to look transmit to. Wearing two different prescriptions is a sure way to depth perception problems and some fuzzy vision too. So what about soft contacts?

Now you can wear bifocal contacts even if you want soft contacts. Here's how it works... The contacts are made with the prescribe areas in rings. When you look out at a distance, you're mostly looking straight through one area of the lens. When you look close, you're looking straight through another area. The result is you get clear vision up close and far off and you get the same clear vision with each eye.

You can select from several brands of contacts with this feature. The Acuvue Bifocal is one popular model. another plus for these lenses is the ease for the wearer. See the lens material is over half water. A experience lens floats on a layer of tears on your eye. With these high water contacts, you get more ease and less problems. With a experience that's mostly water, often you can hardly tell you wear contacts.

Your eye physician will help you with your options for bifocal contacts, but soft contacts are often most comfortable. Comfortable lenses are much easier to wear and easier to get used too. That's a big factor especially if you're new to wearing contacts.
