The Olympus 4/3 still cameras and lenses are well known by their superior quality. The 4/3 system has collection of lenses for everyones needs beginning from professionals to beginners. Although the Olympus 4/3 system has lenses beginning from fisheye lens and ending with telephoto lenses, the wide angle segment does not have so many to select from.
[b]Lens[/b]The Olympus 4/3 system has wide to telephoto zoom lenses, wide-angle zoom lenses and wide angle prime lenses. The wide to telephoto zoom segment has most lenses to offer. The most beloved is the 14-42 mm f/3,5-5,6 zoom lens which Olympus includes as a proper "kit" lens with most of the cameras. It also has an older version- the 14-45 mm f/3,5-5,6. Both of these lenses cost nearby 200 dollars and are not very good. The more pricier 14-54 mm f/2,8-3,5 has more to offer. This lens is sharper and has faster maximum aperture at both ends. The Olympus 12-60 mm f/2,8-4,0 Ed Swd lens is a great trip lens, it has a much wider range than the above mentioned lenses and also it has better optical quality. The prices for this lens start nearby 900 dollars. The top of the range is the 14-35 mm f/2,0 Ed zoom lens. This is the most expensive Olympus wide to telephoto zoom. The prices start at 1800 dollars. This is also the heaviest of the Olympus wide to telephoto zoom lenses, it weights 900g.
The wide angle zoom lenses only has the buyer level 9-18 mm f/4,0-5,6 lens. This is the most accessible ultimate wide angle zoom for the Olympus 4/3 cameras. The prices start nearby 500 dollars. The 11-22mm f/2.8-3.5 lens has high quality but it is not very dramatically wide. And the top of the range is the Olympus 7-14 mm f/4.0 Ed. This is the widest of the Olympus wide angle zoom lenses, but also the priciest, prices start at 1500 dollars.
The only wide angle prime lens for the Olympus 4/3 system is the Olympus 8mm f/3.5 Fisheye Ed. It has a 180 degree field of view and produces dramatic curved distortion. The prices for this lens start at nearby 600 dollars.
There are also other wide angle lenses made by third party manufacturers like Sigma, which makes the Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 Ex Dc lens and the Sigma 24mm f/1.8 Ex Dg Macro prime lens. Although the Olympus 4/3 system does not have so many wide angle lenses like Canon or Nikon, still there are enough to select from for every photographers needs.
